Student Submissions
We encourage undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students to submit abstracts for presentations or posters and written papers for the student paper competition. Presenting a paper or poster gives students an opportunity to gain professional recognition for their work, meet fellow students and professionals in the field of aging, and develop their careers.
Presentation and Student Award
SSA gives three student awards, one for best paper by an undergraduate, one for a graduate, and one for a
doctoral student. Winning papers demonstrate independent critical thinking and contribute to the field of
aging. To be considered for presentation and the student award, students must complete the following steps:
- Submit an abstract using the abstract link.
- Also, please email the abstract and the complete paper to Janna Heyman at heyman@fordham.edu. The deadline for submissions is August 1st 2024.
Presentation of Paper Only
Students may submit an abstract for review in a regular conference presentation without being considered for
the student award. If submitting an abstract for regular conference presentation only, please complete the
abstract submission material here: 2024 SSA Conference Abstract Submission.
Submissions must be received by August 1st, 2024.
Student scholarships
Winners of the student paper competition in each of the two categories will receive a scholarship award to cover conference registration and present their work at the conference.
Limited scholarship funds may be available to defray conference registration fees for students. Award winners and students presenting papers or posters will receive preference for scholarships.
Questions concerning the student awards may be directed to Janna Heyman, heyman@fordham.edu.
